Letter from the Secretary-General Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors, It is my pleasure and honor to invite you to 2021, which will be held from August 12-15th. For the past ten years, this conference has brought high school students together from around the globe to participate in four days of critical discourse on pressing global issues and engage with HMUN India’s diplomatic values. All committees are run by Harvard undergraduates, who also prepare the background materials and serve as mentors for all delegates. Even through the COVID-19 pandemic, HMUN India has continued its tradition of excellence in education. As such, the theme of our 2021 conference will be adaptability . Not only have global citizens been pushed to adapt to unprecedented circumstances over the past year due to the global health situation, but delegates in our committees are also constantly adapting to the new state of our world: adapting to new geopolitical circumstances, to new problems such as climate change and food insecurity, and to crises of every breed. Our committee directors, who have extensive experience staffing online committees, are ready to adapt to any circumstances so we can continue hosting a premier conference. The Secretariat has already begun implementing improvements for the 2021 conference. Committee sizes will be capped at approximately 75 delegates, allowing students to receive a more personalized experience from their Harvard directors. Understanding that HMUN India is first and foremost an educational experience for students, we are also offering beginner and advanced MUN training programs run entirely by Harvard directors. There is no cost of attendance for delegates who are accepted into these programs. Lastly, we will continue our Impact Initiative (previously Act2Impact) in which students submit proposals for social impact projects that address problems in their communities.
